The 2006 Edition of the Regina Ice and Fire Carnival Was a Major Success

Ice and Fire in their most elementary form: the ice candle.

The fire dancers added a quasi mystical flavour to the Saturday evening procession.

The lanterns are always a big hit with young and old.

...as is the bondfire that keeps everyone warm on a cold evening.

The candles lining the spiral path of Atlantis provided just the right effect.

As night fell, the entire park started to assume an almost magical quality.

For one snow sculptor, the built environment was inspirational.

The sculptures looked fantastic.

The presence of the Regina's Francophone communitywith its "Bonhomme Carnaval" added a different dimension to the whole event.

The Shinney Tournament did add a lot of life to the park. It was good to see it being used in a very different way.

It is estimated that about 2,500 people walked through Victoria Park throughout the day on Saturday and 300 people attended the masquarade ball at the Cornwall Centre.
